Nicky Rose Bloomington lives in Cairns, Australia, with her amazing husband, two gorgeous daughters, and two cheeky but lovable cats. She and her family love spending time in nature. They are spoilt for choice within their tropical home town, which has beautiful beaches and islands, pristine rainforest, stunning waterfalls and creeks as well as the Great Barrier Reef right on their doorstep. These places, as well as the funny antics of her daughters, provide endless inspiration for Nicky's work.

Nicky Rose has always loved all things playful and cute, which flows into the style of her artwork, and she finds constant enjoyment creating artwork that is adorable and touches the heart. An accomplished watercolour artist, Nicky Rose exhibits and sells her artwork in the hope of inspiring kids of all ages to develop self-love and confidence, follow their dreams, and enjoy the simple things in life!

In following her own dreams too, Nicky Rose has recently published her first children's book about the adventures of Blossom Bunny and Primrose Cat, two cute characters that have been depicted in her earlier artworks.

As well as being an incredibly interesting place to visit, there are so many wonderful experiences and fun things on offer, that can be enjoyed by the whole family! Here are just a few:

• Visiting an outdoor onsen, and bathing in the warm volcanic water, or enjoying a 'foot bath' a steaming hot river in the middle of the forest!

• Experiencing Edo Wonderland - a recreated historic village from the Edo times, with cultural shows, characters dressed in traditional clothing and old-fashioned games to try.

• Taking a cable car up to an active volcanic field, to see steam pluming from the vents.

• Exploring a Japanese castle during when the cherry blossoms are flowering.

• Paying your respects and making a wish for the new year, when visiting a traditional Japanese temple on New Years Day.
